Grading Less, Teaching More

Log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Tired of grading papers all weekend? Or taking stacks of papers home to grade? Grading can be a huge time suck. Grading efficiently and effectively is a form of self-care. It frees time and mental energy for other tasks. This session will focus on strategies to reduce grading time while increasing the quality of feedback and instruction. We will discuss why we grade and what deserves our attention. We will establish the purpose of grading and how to manage administrative and parental expectations. Assumptions about grading such as 'students will only do things that are graded' will be examined.
Teachers will learn strategies to place the work of assessment with students, quickly generate actionable feedback using G-Suite tools, and use technology such as Google Add-ons to reduce grading time.
Teachers will have the opportunity to gather resources, experiment with some tools, and ask questions.
Those who come with questions, challenges, and scenarios in mind will leave with potential solutions in hand.
The specifics of the session will reflect the expressed needs of those in attendance.
